FAMILY SUPPORT and WELLBEING

Early Help

At Soudley School we believe it is important to support and nurture the whole child and we take the wellbeing of children and families very seriously. Sometimes, children and/or their families benefit from additional services and we can signpost to Early Help.

We aim to support our school community and we offer a Family Support Worker;  ELSA sessions; Young Minds Matters referrals, as well as Silver Cloud Counselling to access counselling sessions for children.

Here are some links to support services and some ideas which hopefully will help you and your children stay positive. Please contact us if you would like an appointment with our Family Support Worker to discuss Early Help services.

Pastoral Team:

We have a pastoral team to support children and families within our school community. Sometimes, children and/or families experience difficulties or have concerns.

Together, our aim is to make things better for all of the children in our care. Sometimes, we may look to work with other professionals to do this. Our school has a clear vision to support children and make it work for them. We look after their wellbeing and keep them safe; the Pastoral Team will work with you and your family to look for solutions that work for everyone.

Your child’s class teacher is your first point of contact. Please make an appointment via the school office.

Mrs Jeavons is our SENCo and is also the school’s Family Support Worker (FSW). She can help by signposting you to external agencies including GCC’s Early Help team.

Mrs Wedley is our Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA). ELSAs are emotional literacy support assistants, who have had special training from educational psychologists to support the emotional development of children and young people in school. ELSAs have regular professional supervision from educational psychologists to help them in their work. ELSAs can help children and young people learn to understand their emotions, support with self-esteem, anger management, transitions, social and friendship skills, bereavement, family break ups and social communication difficulties. They provide the time and space for pupils to think about their personal circumstances and how they manage them.

If you feel you would like support, please contact us.
